In the dark I sit and wonder
All this pain and pressure I am under
In the morning I must make a decision.
If its yes I will take a vacation
And travel half way across the nation
Were i know he will be patently waiting
I will take the train to New York city
To the sounds of Mothers voice
Don't do it out of pity.
He is the one and no other
He's a friend of my brother
And even says good thing about you Mother.
But what she said had me thinking
His only fault was his drinking.
So Mother I have to make a choice.
To the sounds of anger in your voice
I know Mother it is so much of a strain
To remember the sorrow and the pain.
But remember it was Dads decision
To drink drive and land in prison.
great poem, very moving, lots of feeling
