@Mame,
my carrots were pretty good this year, tried a different variety and used seeds (last year i used the seed tape, not very effective)

had a few crops of radishes, might plant some more

@djjd62,
Yeah, I did seeds, too. Next year I'll start them indoors so we can eat them before the snow hits. And I think I'll do beets and spinach, maybe some potatoes and a couple of stalks of corn would be good. I planted cauliflower and brussels this year but they bolted - it was rain, rain, rain, then suddenly hot - too hot for them. Bummer.

My cukes and maters are long gone. made some really good sauce and froze some. My step daughter will be visiting in another week or so, so I'll defrost it then.

getting another crop of green peppers.

definitely gonna make some sauce with the tomatoes, a brit show i watch made sauce by roasting a variety of tomatoes, onion, garlic, and peppers, then passing the roasted veg through a sieve or food mill

@djjd62,
That is an amazing crop you have there, dj.
I'm very impressed!
(& jealous!)
Everything looks so lush & green & fresh & healthy.
And all your own work! Smile

Home grown tomatoes.
I can almost taste them!
Sigh.
(I have an excellent recipe for garlicky slow-roasted tomatoes somewhere, if you're interested. Great for cooking up big batches & freezing the excess for winter sauces, etc ...)

Do you grow your own herbs?
Just curious about which ones, if you do.

@jcboy,
Save yourself some work and use large containers. You'll be just as successful.

@djjd62,
My carrots and parsnips are still maturing. Had a bumper crop of onions this year. Some are as big as what you describe the monster beet to be.
