Two main innovations, i.e. a super engine which generates electricity and then electric motors on the wheels. That eliminates the most major weak link in all modern cars i.e. the transmission.
The motor is either the same or strongly related to the Angellabs/Morgado engine which is best of breed for the last two decades worth of efforts in the direction of a better IC engine. In particular, power density is far beyond today's car engines so that an Angellabs engine for a Honda Accord would probably be about the size of a volleyball or maybe a bit smaller than that while an Angellabs engine for an 18-wheeler would weigh around 150 lbs.
There is a major reduction in weight and also the gain from not using power to operate cams or move valves against springs since the thing is basically an advanced 2-stroke with none of the old 2-stroke problems.
