Is it out?
Have you seen it?
Is it great?
Solaris
Yes, In Theaters now
I have not seen it but, am slightly interested in possibly going to see it
I saw a review that wasnt that great but, I usually dont agree with those anyway.
I don't even care if it isn't great, it's SCIFI! I oove sci-fi. So... sunday matinee?
hehehehe
my thoughts exactly! humm..wonder how long its been out, if I can use those still sitting tickets
The original Russian film was on IFC a few nights back and will be repeated. I'm not convinced this will do anything at the box office -- it's very cerebral sci-fi, perhaps as engimatic as "2001" if not more so. I saw the Ebert/Ropert review and they liked it. However, getting good critical reviews won't save a big budget film that isn't able to reach a wide audience.
Intriguing design on the site, though!
I was sort of intrigued by some of the wild theories thrown around in the first one. Ever since I saw it, I started to swimming differently in the ocean. I too am rooting for a good new scifi. Star Trek's Nemesis looks good too.
IFC????....scrambling for the time
Seems it was on twice today....humm

Hey all!
Hey Lighwizard - I just saw Monsters Inc for the first time. Great flick!
Algis, Nemesis looks promising! Patrick Stewart is just the coolest.
good to hear the Nemesis looks like it'll be good.
LOVE Patrick Stewart!!
I bought Monsters Inc...it is cool
I picked up Ice Age last week too...that was good too!
Saw ice age this week too..... ok, not as good as Monster's inc, I thought.
Yeah, Monsters was definately better....
I have had a great fascination with that little squirrel since the previews last year though..so I had to have it
heeheehee, that squirrel was damn cute!
One of Disney's best -- I think the best comedy animation feature ever produced by the studio, with "Aladdin" a close second.
Try IFC online to see if the Russian "Solaris" will be repeated. They generally show a film several times a month.

I've seen Solaris , the original Soviet film three times.
If you can get past the first half hour, which somehow sets you into a calm pshychological stage, you can go through to the other two hours as the film grabs your gut and your soul.
What sort of being would come alive from aour souls in planet Solaris? A tough, tough onthological question.
After viewing the film twice I read Stalislaw Lem's novel, on which the movie is based. Even if it has the same main points, the novel was absolutely unfilmable before computerized effects. The novel is basically a poetic description of the planet.
I only hope that the remake is good. The technology may help a lot. Hollywood's idea of a successful film may not.
Hi fbaezer, Thanks for those Solaris notes.
See my "Stone Faced Sober" in Original Art. I think that this portfolio was created in retrospect from Solaris's films theology. If the Ocean could be the mind of the planet, maybe "Romancing the Stone", isn't such a farout idea.
That sounds good sosobe. I need another Picard fix. You know Captain Janeway is rather great herself. I didn't watch Voyager for years , but now being on every night. I watch it daily. Voyager is really good actually. Give it a try...
