Not really poems, more song lyrics...

Hi there.

I've never posted here before but have recently been making my first tentative steps into song writing, and I'd appreciate any feedback on some lyrics. I used to have a band who'd do this sort of thing with me but that recently ended, casting the four of us into a creative limbo... or something.

STARS WITHOUT GUITARS

It's easy to forget / when you're up on stage
How long it takes to get to play that way
Though now you're tight / it wasn't overnight
Like anything you got to pay your way

Drummers need drum kits / some boys want bootlicks
Sometimes everything will come crashing down
I hope you stand up / say thank you very much
Worry less about how you look than how you sound

CHORUS

Bright lights can shine direct into your eyes
Careful the shadows don't take you by surprise
And though it's clear that you can go far
We'll still be stars even without guitars

While all your fans / don't really understand
The work that's gone into the rock ?'n' roll band
They don't see the money / all the rock ?'n' roll money
The man will proffer from his greasy hand

And which you'll take / make no mistake
Otherwise everything becomes too tough
Take a step back / look beyond your axe
You'll see much more if you try riding your luck

My dear Lily have you heard the word?
They say it's up to us now to save the world.
And although it's a lot for a girl to do
I thought perhaps you could try and save me too.

Tell me the first we can do, while no one needs saving like you who say "only fools wear their hearts on their sleeve."
I keep my heart safe in my jacket pocket with my wallet and keys; you've made a living taking careless hearts for free.
But among the fumbling in closets and music playing softly you know I only ever stay for you.
Waiting while your watching and we drink too much, at these events there's nothing else to do.
