E=h*nu
E is energy
h is Plank's constant (6.62606957(29)×10−34)J·s[1]
nu is frequency (cyc/s)

@Fido,
E=h*nu was one relation that lead Einstein to E=m*c^2 in his paper on the photoelectric effect.

Adapted from David Cassidy's book, Einstein and Our World.

According to Heisenberg in his book, Nuclear Physics, the equasion E=hv, in Plank's formula, E is identical with the binding energy of the duteron... Hasenohrl had also pointed out in pre relativist days the relationship, following from the electrodynamics of moving objects, that m= E/c squared... He failed to compute the proportionality factor correctly, but I think more significantly; He was solving for mass which we all have enough of, and was not solving for Energy which no one has enough of... It was a simple matter to turn the equasion around...
