Sublime Cantata
When midday did the evening come
The end days given birth
On ravens wings the word was passed
Between the Kings of Earth
The Day of Black had twisted free
from bonds of love and light
A hellish blanket cross the lands
To welcome endless night
As in times of trials past
The Seven Monarchs met
They gathered in the name of Cause
Defiant of the threat
On chargers through the dark they sped
Amid the howling foes
Clad in grimmest steel they rode
The demons to oppose
Then as among these Lords were passed
The mighty plans of war
There echoed loud a fiendish shriek
A vile battle roar
Black shapes formed a swelling mass
A swarm of death and hate
To swallow whole the Kings of Earth
Sew shut the threads of Fate
A trumpet blast rang out and ceased
As claws and steel made blood
The Vandis Knights a wall of flesh
To block the hideous flood
The Kings of Earth made council there
Encircled by the doomed
With wisdom War was crafted there
While heroes, hell consumed.
Then loudly did they raise their voice
With power, lifted swords
They smote the charge of demon spawn
They battered back the hordes
The Night of Kings began with blood
and Light did sorrow rend
But came to pass a newfound hope
Mankind would fight the End.

This is the most recently written of a series of ten poems I've composed over the last several years. It is a story that I can almost see in totality in my head but have yet to be able to fully put down in writing. It would perhaps be better told as prose but the scope is too much for me. This is the second poem of the ten going in chronological order of the story, but as I said, the most recently written. I would have put them all here but think it would be presumptuous and annoying from a new member.
In any case, I'm happy to have found a creative writing board and hope I can find the time to hang around and read some great original work.
Thank you for reading!

tableist, Welcome to A2K.
That was one fantastic piece of writing, my friend. Conjured up a black picture. Keep it up.
