Old Arabian Adventure Movie

When I was young I remember seeing a Sinbad type movie where the hero was sent on a quest. He needed to obtain something and went to a hill top with his men (on a flying carpet I think) and entered a cave. In the cave there was a path leading up to the thing he needed (I forgot what it was). On either side of the path one could see the bones of past champions who tried to climb the path but for some reason had fallen off and perished. As one of the hero's men climbed the path illusions would appear to him tempting him to reach out. He did and fell to his death. The hero then makes the climb and is severely tempted by the illusions but resists and finally reaches the goal. I have looked and looked for this movie and reviewed tons of movies like The Thief of Bagdad (1961 & 1940) and Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, etc. I have not been able to find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
