OK, newbie question. IF one wants to stick just one line of Cyrillic onto a page
is there an easy way without changing the entire page character set?
I think I know what you mean.
In Word, go to insert - symbol, look around in the various fonts and choose which ever symbol is appropriate. You can usually cut and paste on to the internet as well.
Hey Ceili
But, would not the distant end (the viewer on the net) have to have this font? OK, only a line or two to do so went the "coded path"
Keep warm up there

Hi Beelzel
Simply, your viewers will need to have appropriate fonts installed or it won't show correctly, no matter what.
Specifying character codes through HTML, as shown on the page you linked to above, will not completely solve your problem. Doing it that way will mean that no one gets prompted to install Cyrillic fonts (which is good, since few want to go through the trouble in order to just read a few words), while at the same time it insures that those who already have the right fonts will see it correctly even though the page's language encoding hasn't been changed.
The best method for such a small amount of foreign text would be to save it as a Gif image, ruling out font issues entirely.
If the following, at least one of the second column, does not appear correct, then the browser cannot use an appropriate font or the font is not installed on the OS.
