Problems decompressing certain files

Hi folks, I've downloaded large Excel data files from the net, all of which are compressed and have the suffixes ".csv.tgz". Attempts at decompressing them using Winzip have failed. Any assistance you could suggest/provide would be much appreciated.

That means they were compressed with gzip. You can download and install gzip http://www.gzip.org/#faq6

or you can upgrade your winzip to the latest version which does handle .tgz files. http://www.winzip.com/prodpagewz.htm
