Lost Films: Will They Ever Be Found?

The British Film Institute has a list of the 75 most wanted lost films (films where no known print exists). The web page requests that BFI be contacted with any info:
http://www.bfi.org.uk/nationalarchive/news/mostwanted/75-list.html

The list includes the only lost Hitchcock film (The Mountain Eagle from 1926), as well as some films that were made as late as 1973 (a cult horror film called Symptoms).

@Reyn,
Thanks, Reyn.

Here is some more interesting trivia about what experts would consider "lost." Some films existed in an original, longer version but were released in theaters in a shorter version. Often, the longer "director's cut" version has gone missing. For example, Vincente Minelli made a three hour version of the musical, On A Clear Day You Can See Forever. The version that was released is only two hours long. The additional scenes are now lost, including a scene where Jack Nicholson sings a duet with Barbara Streisand.

@wandeljw,
Maybe these lost film prints are in Jimmy Hoffa's secret bachelor pad.... Kind of makes ya think.

@tsarstepan,
Right, whoever finds Jimmy Hoffa may find the long-lost Hitchcock. The 1926 Hitchcock film sounds amazing. The story is set in Kentucky, but Hitchcock filmed it entirely in Austria.
