Investment behavior, evolution?

It is generally agreed that civilization began by farmers. I claim that the reason farmers develop civilization is due in part to the modification/evolution of a new investment behavior. Behavior that requires the delay of gratification, and rely heavily on anticipating "natural world", and "human behavior". The latter develop into "social manipulation". My evidence is that there is a lot of evidence for evolution in the last 10,000 years. According to one source, we are more different from the people that live in 0 A.D then they are with people in the 50,000 B.C. There is also the thesis that this huge evolutionary change is due in part to farming. Thus, we can plausibly infer that farming also motivated the evolution of investment behavior.

@TuringEquivalent,
TE, I think this is an interesting subject, but I'd like to add my .02c worth to see how this thread progresses.

I'm not so sure that agriculture was the initial investment in behavior for humans. I think it's more like hunting and gathering, and understanding that water is required for survival.

The fact that scientists see homo sapiens as the cousins to chimps with our DNA at 98.4%, I think the best place to start is to learn about how chimps survive in the wilds. Jane Goodall did much research on chimps, and she found that chimps can be as cruel as humans, and can exact violence against their own kind.

I think human settlements and agriculture came much later.
