“I won’t worry about you, Kavita. You have strength. Fortitude. Shakti. Bombay will bring you hardship. But you, beti, have the strength to endure it.”

I read cross this sentence in a novel written by an Indian-Canadian.
I know Shalti is a goddess of Hinduism . But I don't know why does the author mention the Goddess here. Who can tell me why?

Shakti is the Hindi word for strength.

She really is saying you have strength, and not referring to the goddess Durga who symbolizes "shakti".
