A couple of years ago I was able to have the current date in a cell and it updated itself every time the file was saved. - I need to do it again in a new file and can't figure out how to do it. Do any of you know how? I have gone through the help in Excell and it either isn't there, or I am missing it.
Thanks in advance, craigr

Go to

INSERT
FUNCTION
DATE AND TIME
TODAY

This function will always return "today's" date in a cell.

Hope this helps

dates in ecxel
an easier way is to simply type "=today()" into the cell where you want it-without the quotes. if you type "now()" it will return the time aswell. if you don't like the default response, format it as you would like to see it.
