I was on my laptop when an icon came up telling me of viruses on my computer. I clicked on the remove button and then something else came up asking for my permission to run i accepted and thought i had cleared my computer of any possible threats. Now it won't even start correctly. The log in menu never shows up just a black screen. The repair option comes up and i have tried but it didn't fix the problem. What happened to my computer? What can i do to fix it?
Unplug it and let it run till the battery runs out of juice. Then plug it back in and try starting it again. Then, if and when it starts, do a virus scan or check your program list for any errant programs. It sounds like you accepted a virus when you clicked on the pop-up.
@rivers17,
Sounds like you just allowed a virus.
Sounds like you might be using Vista, anyways, I havent done this for a while, but I think you can toggle the F8 key imediately after booting, and then you might be able to start the computer in safe mode, and then run System Restore back to a previous date, before the problems started.
