I am a beginer in this field. I am trying to find a software program that will allow me to take a part of a photo(a head for example) and put it on another photo. Does anyone know of a simple program that will do this.I use windows xp home and have lots of RAM.
There are two options...
1) Commercial programs like Photoshop are the easiest, but they cost arount $70.
2) There is a very good free software package that I use called the Gimp. It can do almost everything that Photoshop can do, but it is a bit more difficult to install and use.
However there are very good books available and one of the best "Grokking the Gimp" is available online for free.
I recommend the Gimp if you like figuring things out, are willing to read a bit and have the patience to get things working. Once you learn how to use it, it is very powerful and quick.
Best of all, it's free!
I've no experience with the free package but Photoshop is very very good with an amazing range of tools to do stuff with - you'd take a while to get to grips with it all but it is very user friendly. I love it.
is it really $70??? or is it $700? over here it is £400+
Photoshop for me - on my other computer - gimp was wa pain to get installed
I have photoshop elements, will that do it?
I have never worked with Photoshop Elements, so I am not sure if it will do the trick. Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8, is another option. Similar to Photoshop 7, but much easier to work with.
OUR FAVORITE PHOTO EDITING PROGRAM
There are quite a few photo-editing programs on the computers here. Our favorite is MICROGRAFX Picture Publisher, which we have used literally hundreds of times. The others, only a few times each - because of the ease of Pix Pub's use. Cheap, too! The URL is below:
