I saw a part of what I believe to be a Felini movie where an older man spent quite some time pursing a young man on vacation with his family. To be presentable to the young amn, the elderly man had used dye on his hair. In the last scene, we find the man, with black dye dripping, slumped in a chair-dead.
@Dyahanne,
It sounds like "Death in Venice" which was directed by Luchino Visconti.

Note to Dyahanne: Fellini has 2 letter 'l's. The film starred Dirk Bogarde.
@joefromchicago,
Good movie, to me. I've seen it a few times. Bogarde is one of my favorite actors.
And Visconti, not a bad director (well, again, to me).
