need help with repair and up grade on hp

I have a HP Pavilion A305w that I was cleaning the dust out of and I damaged the pins on cpu Beause I did not know the proper way to reinstall it, Yes I know dumb me. Well anyways I would like to use it as a back up computer so I need a new cpu is there any more info that I need other than celeron 2.70 ghz/128/400/SL77S when ordering a new one ?

I would also like to up grade my ram which is 256 mb to a 1 gig do I just install (2) 512 boards and that is all that there is to it or do I need to know more?
