sweets from a bag

Please tell me how you got the answer.

Say there are five candies in the bag.

I take the first one (1)

You take one (1)

I take 1 (1+1)

You take one but give it to me: You: (1+1-1 = 1); Me (1+1+1=3)

Then it's my turn again and I take the last one (1+1+1(the one you gave me) +1 = 4)

I end up with 4, you end up with 1.

Thanks for the reply. Five in the bag seems to be the lowest odd number this would work for. It would not work for 3 sweets in a bag?

I take a turn and get one. (1)

You take a turn and give it to me. You (1-1=0) Me (1+1=2)

I take a turn and get the last one (1+1(that you gave me)+1 =3)

I get 3 and you get 0.
