Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

It is a famous quotation made by Les Brown.
What's the connotation of this sentence?
I figure it as that "aim high,even if you can not reach your goal, you will havesomething achieved".
Or
If you aim for A+, even you fail, you can still reach something like A.
If you only aim for A, then you may just get B+ or something lower.


Am I right? If not, what's your connotation?
