Where do you think I might find a rubber mat?

I need a rubber mat, and can't for the life of me figure out where to go to get one. I need it for an aquarium related project that calls for a few specific details:

It needs to be "soft"- as in non-skid
Completely non-textured on both sides (This is the prime requisite)
From 1/16" to 1/8" thick
36" x 40" size

I've checked out my local home improvement stores and the wal-marts, all I've found have been textured mats like truck bed liners or car floor mats, or bristly like outdoor welcome mats. I've even checked out some pet shops... They look at you like you're crazy! Laughing Or worse, demented... Confused

Think back packing supplies and equipment. They make a closed cell sleeping bag mattress about 2' X 5' X 1/4". Coleman makes one, so do several others.

I'm not sure if this fits your exact requirements but places like JC Whitney sell 1/4" thick sheets of rubberized material for use as insulation (heat and sound) in car bodies. (You sick it to the sheet metal and then cover it with headliner or carpeting...)

Most if it is "self-stick" on one side though. I suppose if you don't peel the backing off that might not matter.

I'll keep that one in mind for myself, fishin'. Edmond Scientific sells 1/8" X 12" X 12" sheets of sorbathane, which would be just dandy for a critical application. Check the price on that stuff and you'll see why I didn't mention it.

Considered a pool product supplier? One in Oz is called Clark Rubber. I don't know if they operate in the US, but if it's made of foam or rubber, they've got it.

Clark Rubber and Plastics

Not the same company as in Oz, but they're in the US.
