Noetic death experiment

I read in the book lost symbol about an experiment wherea closed system was used to weight a human through the point of his death. It claimed that this was a real experiment and that the result was a drop in weight upon the moment of death. This drop was small but significant. Can anyone confirm this is true or discredit it?

@tommot2002,
Sounds extremely unlikely to me. A little bit of mass translates to a LOT of energy. Any measurable decrease in mass would be accompanied by a very large explosion.

@rosborne979,
If it was a soul or something similar it could stay as something physical as it leaves, even a change in dimensions. I need to see the experiment myself before start making crazy ideas though.

It it's physical and it has mass then how did it leave the closed environment. A "change in dimensions" sounds scientific, but it's tantamount to a proposition of Magic.

@rosborne979,
I'm just hypothesising as if the experiment was true! We need to know if it is true first.

If it was measurable and repeatable I would think it would be big news. But since it isn't big news I would guess that it's not repeatable and measurable, which makes it, in all probability, not true. And at the very least makes it worthless.

@joefromchicago,
if you die at sea level and your lung capacity is average(about 6 liters total) , about 0.3 oz of air would be expelled and the body would be that much lighter. How much did this reported soul weigh?

@farmerman,
we need to line up about 10 subjects and keep them on a big real time recording scale and then wack each one over the head until dead, then measure the loss in weight. After we do that, then we can repeat the experiment by tying down the subjects and measure the air expelled as they die.
This could be an interesting experiment for the fatherland.

In the German experiment, 1/3,000 of an ounce.

@joefromchicago,
So, expulsion of air from the lungs could account for a weight 100 times greater. I havent approached the subject of expulsion of gas from thesphincter as it relaxes at the point of death. This weight could be more than 0.003 oz also.
Noetic sciences seem to be involved with stuff that assumes stuff first. Is ION part of some church group?

@tommot2002,
'Death' is conceptual. It's just another one we used to hide behind to 'remind' us to 'live'(knowing). Get out of that cesspool of not knowing/pretending to know(concepts) and start 'hearing' what you do!

Its actually IONS, (the Institute Of Noetic Sciences).

These guys are usually heard on the all night UFO stations.

@tommot2002,
You do understand, you just are reading it as a concept to understand. You have to 'hear' it........

Yeah, it all sounds pretty Fortean to me.
