Two songs now from RELISH.
Relish are a band from Downpatrick, Co. Down, Northern Ireland, composed of brothers
Ken Papenfus (vocals and guitar) and Carl Papenfus (drums, keyboards and vocals)
and Darren Campbell (bass and vocals).
They have been off the scene for a while but the good news is, they are back and
their new single 'Something To Believe In' is due to be released soon.

With the Eurovision Song Contest being held tonight it's time to look at Ireland's record in the competition.
Ireland won the Contest for the first time in 1970 with Dana performing "All Kinds of Everything". In total,
Ireland has won the Contest seven times, more than any other country, including an unprecedented three
consecutive victories in the 1990s (1992, 1993 and 1994 - the most consecutive wins accumulated by a country
to date). The decade also saw yet another victory in 1996 and two second place finishes (in 1990 and 1997),
which gives Ireland the best overall performance by any country in the history of the Contest.
Ireland has an average of 72 points per contest, sharing the highest average score with the United Kingdom.
Here are Ireland's seven winning songs.

Dana - All kinds Of Everything (1970)

Johnny Logan - Whats Another Year (1980)

Johnny Logan - Hold Me Now (1987)

Linda Martin - Why Me? (1992)

Niamh Kavanagh - In Your Eyes (1993)

Paul Harrington & Charlie McGettigan - Rock N Roll Kids (1994)

Eimear Quinn - The Voice (1996)

@Old Goat,
Hello OG. Yep did a small piece on Val on
page 4.
Here it is again.....

Next we'll hear from the great & venerable Mr VAL DOONICAN.
Val, born in Co Waterford in 1927 had a very successful singing and TV career.
For over 20 years he had his own show on BBC television in the UK which featured
his own singing performances and a variety of guest artists.
He often wore cardigans and jumpers, which together with the rocking chairs he often
sat in became his trademark.
Between 1964 and 1973 Val was rarely out of the UK Singles Chart, his greatest successes
including the singles "Walk Tall", "The Special Years", "What Would I Be",
"If The Whole World Stopped Loving", and "Morning".
Val ceased touring in 2009 and now enjoys spending a lot of free time in Spain, where he has
a second home, and is a keen golfer. He lives in Knotty Green, Buckinghamshire.
You can learn more about Val at www.valdoonican.com
