It is far more conceivable that we would be reaching the end of our line than it is to think we are just beginning. We have a hole in the ozone layer that cellophane and scotch tape just won't fix. Our technology is exceeding our capabilities to the point that we can blow up half the earth, which would take one doozy of a construction company to put it all back together again. And we all hate each other to the point that we're just about ready to do something about it. The thing is we're not a bunch of marbles waiting for a lever to push us out at our randomly allotted time. We've cut our time considerably all by ourselves.

Sidenote: The Doomsday Argument agrees with current religious doctrine.

But, let's just simply keep this one on a scientific tip.
