Due to a heated argument at work involving ballerina flat shoes, I need to ask the men of a2k how they see them. Do you like them on women? Do you hate them? Do they leave you neutral?
Thank you most muchly.
@dagmaraka,
i'd lose the bows, or whatever the decoration is, but i like them, i prefer simple over ornate any day, give me a girl in flats over heels anytime
@dagmaraka,
I like them on ballerinas. For everybody else, high heels or sandals are just fine.
Not being a man, I won't weigh in, but, I love when heated conversations develop over things like this. 'Tis the spice of life.
Carry on.
It began, because a colleague of mine declared that he was "speaking for all men" :-)
@dagmaraka,
Where does he get the nerve?
I would favor black with a somewhat pointy toe, and yes, lose the nonfunctional bows, laces, or whatever they are.
If you're appearing in a Jules Feiffer cartoon, yay.
Honestly.
As a man, I very rarely, if ever, notice a woman's shoes. I don't understand what the fuss is. Shoes are the least interesting piece of clothing imaginable.
@maxdancona,
Hmm, my colleague was very adamant about this. Passionate, even.

In that case, I hope he accurately responded:
Men really couldn't care less about people's shoes. It is supremely unimportant.

@dagmaraka,
I look at the face first and then downward. Girls with nice legs are good to look at and when they turn around even better. Shoes? I forgot! He is afraid that with pointy tough toes it could do serious damage to the nuts if there is an argument so it has to be banned. Personally, who cares....
oh, I don't know about that cyclo, you seemed awfully interested in your barefoot shoes, with the 5 toes.
If men do not care about shoes, why are so many fine italian leather ones sold to men every day?
@dagmaraka,
If I were to have an opinion on these shoes, I would say they look great.

Shrug. Only because of the functionality aspect of them. Not the looks.

Because Women care about shoes. The same reason most expensive, useless **** is sold to men every day.

@chai2,
Wasn't that maporsche?
edit: guess not.
I always think of those shoes as "ballerina flats" by the way, not "ballerina shoes" (which I think of as what actual ballerinas wear).
I personally don't like ballerina flats -- there are other shoes that are more comfortable and a lot of people look bad in 'em, including me. (They look best with storky legs, which I do not possess.)

It was in fact MaPorsche who had the shoes. All I did was talk about my thoughts on buying a pair.

What did your colleague say on my behalf?
I think these shoes are very feminine and girly. They're cute. My daughter has a few pairs of ballerina flats.
oh, sorry, got you mixed up.
However, to say you don't care about shoes at all?
If you were invited to a fancy affair, or had to attend a business function, or anywhere else where you wanted to look your best, you wouldn't consider that part of your wardrobe?
Why are shoes less important than other articles of clothing that you would be particular about in such a situation?
Would you put on a suit, (and don't tell me you never wear one, you know I mean getting dressed up for something important) and you look really sharp, except that you're wearing scuffed, worn out overly casual etc. shoes?
I'm not obsessed with shoes, but I'm not going to ruin the entire appearance of an outfit by putting on the clogs I use in the garden, when I'm not going out to pull weeds.

Yeah, I don't like them for me, personally, either.
They wouldn't flatter me.
