Drug of Choice

Seeming guileless as a kitten, she seduced me from the start
But some forbidden substance was the essence of her heart.

Coursing through my brain, after the needle prick of skin
I reveled in the moment's pleasure, mindless of any sin.

But morning brought the message that what I'd done was wrong
Wrong on many levels, so I've got to move along...

Hurt once more I grieve, then start rebuilding walls
But her drug is oh so potent, they fall each time she calls.

So nervously I bide my time, knowing if I hear her voice,
Once again I will succumb. She is my drug of choice.
