If Johnny Cash only ever recorded Hurt it would still be a legend, but he's done so much more. When I was a kid I thought he was just a novelty act (Boy named Sue), but you live and learn. It's weird to think of him at Sun Records at the same time as Elvis Presley. The track you've picked makes me think of the incredible influence of gospel on American music.
Yaknow about the [youtube ] tag right? Put them vids right in the thread!

@panzade,
Maybe gospel and linin' both have their roots in 'call and response' vocals that came to America with the slave trade? <desperately trying to save face>
Will you humour me for one more strange one hinge?
This is a weird one from Dean Elliot who used to write music for Tom & Jerry cartoons(best heard on earphones)
I've just come across (to my undying shame) Children of the Bong (stupid name - sounds like a Cypress Hill tribute band). They are, or were, mid 90s ambient techno ambient dub, found a really nice track on an 1994 compilation of Planet Dog artists released on Mammoth. Sadly the track I like, Symbol I, has been youtubified, so I'm going with this trippy little Jah Wobble meets Tangerine Dream number:
