No, it's not... I heard the name after ranting, and I thought 'poor guy Sad.'

Still, one low shouldn't shadow the highs...

It comes across better live actually, when you can hear the emotion behind it, but it's still not one of my faves. I blame crappy production.

Due to my´recent visit in France, I'm listening now the Ouverture 1812 (and some more 'Marches Napoléoniennes, played by 'La Musique des Gardiens de la Paix de la Préfecture de Police de Paris').

In other respects I'm feeling quite well

Very Happy! Good one, Walter!

Don't check it out? All right. Is there anything particularly bad on the album that you'd recommend that I avoid?

The entire album is horrible drom. I'd rather listen to 'Metal Machine Music'.

A short list of my faves from Lou: Magic and Loss (not well known, but brilliant), Raven (all Poe dedicated and what not), Berlin (a classic, produced by David Bowie), Rock and Roll Animal (awesome live album), and anything by the Velvet Underground. Smile

Oh, and 'Songs for Drella' with John Cale, a tribute to Andy Warhol.

Because of production? Quality of songs? It does sound a little corny by name, but a WMD by any other name smells just as lost...

I'll keep those recommendations in mind, Cav-- I have all the Velvet Underground albums, but less Lou Reed, though I usually like him. A weird thing that I have discovered: one really can't judge an album on the first five songs, especially albums made before '74... often the songs 6 onwards are better...

It's not bad, Drom, if someone likes that sort of (classical) music.

I like classical music, but it can create a... repressive... atmosphere, when repeated all the time.

'Magic and Loss' is at the top of my list. For some reason, I am really drawn to that album. You can preview the tracks here: http://www.mainstreetmusic.com/cgi-bin/msmusic/LA0000663447.html

Damn; they don't allow for digital previews in my country. Damn anti-Poles!

I've looked at it through Amazon, though, and I think that I'll buy it.

Maza Meze

Quote:
"Maza" (Arabic) and "Mezé" (Greek) have the same meaning in both languages - an assortment of appetizers. Maza Mezé serves up traditional tunes from the Middle East, Greece and Asia Minor with generous helpings of other worldly spices swirled into the mix.

The ensemble exists to share joy and unity with their audience

love love love their music

Um, Metallica's 'Low Man's Lyric' from their Reloaded album.

Before that, 'Mars the Bringer of War' from The Planets by Gustav Holst (no relation to Ratzenhoffer)
