Came up on random. Actually recorded by Rufus - but the success of this grammy award winning song meant the Illinois band changed their name to Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan. One of the first hits to feature a guitar talk box (courtesy of Tony Maiden) and was written for the band by Stevie Wonder (who, as far as I can tell, has never recorded it).

I oughta listen to Mahler's 2nd, but I forgot how to crank up the TV and stereo. The other option is to listen with headphones on my cellphone.

@Barny,
Do you have a particular era you favour? I didn't mind their first album but felt they hit their straps around Everything Counts, went quiet, then resurgence in an even darker mode with Personal Jesus, Walking In My Shoes. They changed so much in 30+ years. Weird to think that losing their main song writer to Yazoo made them even better.

Downloaded a lot of Olarfur Arnalds in the last year. He's consistently good (like Ludovico Einaudi and Nils Petter Molvaer recently, Mark Isham, Michael Brook and Jon Hassel further back) in that weird space between electronic classical, ambient and jazz.

And celloes do it to me all the time

That's one of my favorite all time recordings, just great.

Well it's hottest 100 voting time so I've shortlisted everything I've got that was released in 2025 - and some judicious downloading of stuff in the official Triple J nominees that I don't have already.

So the shortlist (693 tracks) is on rotation while I decide on my top ten. So far I only have ten possibles and a few of them aren't even on the J's list.

This for example that I love (especially the coda).

Hanshan Temple (a budhhist chant credited to Jim Long Uen)

Just came on - at work. This is not work music this is going to sleep music.

Have a listen to this edited (only 9 minutes) version on the album it goes for 24 minutes and is coma inducing. I am sliding back and down in my office chair.
