cav - just another "freedom" lost to the Patriot Act....
The new conservative party's leadership 'event'. They apparently can't call it a convention as most of the voting will be happening away from where the party meeting is taking place.
I can't imagine ever voting for the conservatives, but I want to have an understanding of what the potential leaders of the new party have to offer.
Conservative candidates make last pitch for votes
BillW - I'm a great fan of Paul Winter. I can tell exactly where I was the first time I really 'heard' his music - I was in Acadia National Park in Maine for the first time. He really opened my ears to Russian music. I've learned a lot since then.

House Of Blue Lights
Chuck Miller
[Written by Don Ray and Freddie Slack]
Lace up your boots and we'll broom on down
To a knocked out shack on the edge of town
There's an eight beat combo that just won't quit
Keep walkin' 'til you see a blue light lit
Fall in there and we'll see some sights
At the house, the house of blue lights
There's fryers, broilers and Detroit barbeque ribs
But the treat of the trade
Is when they serve you all those fine eight beats
You'll want to spend the rest of your nights
Down at the house, the house of blue lights
---- Instrumental Interlude ----

Sylvia Plath, by Ryan Adams:
I wish I had a Sylvia Plath
Busted tooth and a smile
And cigarette ashes in her drink
The kind that goes out and then sleeps for a week
The kind that goes out on her
To give me a reason, for well, I dunno
And maybe she'd take me to France
Or maybe to Spain and she'd ask me to dance
In a mansion on the top of a hill
She'd ash on the carpets
And slip me a pill
Then she'd get me pretty loaded on gin
And maybe she'd give me a bath
How I wish I had a Sylvia Plath
And she and I would sleep on a boat
And swim in the sea without clothes
With rain falling fast on the sea
While she was swimming away, she'd be winking at me
Telling me it would all be okay
Out on the horizon and fading away
And I'd swim to the boat and I'd laugh
I gotta get me a Sylvia Plath
And maybe she'd take me to France
Or maybe to Spain and she'd ask me to dance
In a mansion on the top of a hill
She'd ash on the carpets
And slip me a pill
Then she'd get me pretty loaded on gin
And maybe she'd give me a bath
How I wish I had a Sylvia Plath
