Beautiful, the Gordon Lightfoot tribute c.d.

Right now I'm listening to Blackie and the Rodeo Kings doing Summer Side of Life.

Fabulous concept and extraordinary results. I've had trouble getting my hands on a copy of the c.d. as its apparently surprisingly popular.

This is brilliant. Ron Sexsmith doing Drifter is killer!

Khmer Rouge Brother Number 17 finds religion among the landmines. His God may forgive him for genocide. But our documentary suggests his fellow citizens won't.

Bend the law in Russia, you might get rich. Bend President Putin's law and you wind up in the slammer, as the country's richest man discovered.

Seems there's something in Russia that money can't buy after all.

And, how do you make an Afghan blush? Ask him to speak the language of love. Or write it. Listen in on a Kabul moment.

Watching/listening to the CMA Awards. Johnny Cash has won so far for Album of the Year (The Man Comes Around) and single of the year ("Hurt")

I expect that he will win for the video for "Hurt" as well. It's not a country song, but I want it to win. It's a very well done video.

just put one of my longtime favourite records(yes a lp) on : SATCHMO , a musical autobiography of "louis armstrong". it is a four record set that starts with "dipper mouth blues" and by way of "snag it" and "i surrender dear" ends about two hours later with "mahagony hall stomp". papa louis is singin' an' talkin' an' blowin' his horn - man, that's groovy ! luckily mrs. hamburger likes this kind of music too. what a saturday night ! got to shake, man ! hbg ... right now he's playing "mandy make up your mind" with sidney bechet(recorded 1957).

Just got in from an outstanding concert. Saw Nickel Creek in a small, intimate venue. I swear that guy can make sounds come out of a mandolin that mandolins aren't supposed to make! Powerhouse! Superb musicianship.

Switchfoot :: Meant to Live

"Fumbling his confidence
And wondering why the world has passed him by
Hoping that he's bid for more than arguments
And failed attempts to fly, fly

"We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves?
Somewhere we live inside.."
