My latest methodology for listening to music at work is to pick four albums randomly (using random.org), play all the tracks that got to a certain chart position (again using random.org) and all the charting songs from a particulary time (e.g. summer of 1967, or autumn 2003) again chosenly randomly. I add em to a playlist and hit shuffle list a few times.

So today I'm listening to Dude Ranch by Blink 182, Moon Safari by Air, Best Country Album in the World ....Ever - VA, and Aerial Boundaries by Michael Hedges, great number 40s and charters from the Summer of 1989

right now this is playing

@hingehead,
Still or again, Jim?

It's a long tune.

@panzade,
Of course, I'd forgotten about the extended 10,000 inch version!

Entwhistle's bass much clearer than the studio version - new round wound strings?

Jake is amazing.

ehBeth - don't know if you've ever seen this "Ukelele Shaft", but it's always good for a good laugh for me...

Right now I'm listening to the pre-release of the new Lady Gaga c.d. on FB. I'm quite enjoying it. I'd never listened to anything of hers other than what I occasionally caught as I changed stations. I didn't realize the quality of her voice without all the synthing. I'd like to hear her take on some American songbook classics. She's got a dang good voice.

Gosh I love Burt Bacharach's melodic style. These singers aren't well known but they really nail the tunes. And the live recording is just fantastic.

@panzade,
It amazes me how many melodies from my childhood were bacharach, before I even knew who the Beatles were. Walk On By is a classic, but reel them off, Say A Little Prayer, Close To You, Never fall in love again, Look of love, What's new pussycat, This guys in love with you.

Simple but instantly memorable, I wonder how he did it so consistently?

How on earth did Iggy Pop find a 30 year old Australian track from our first 'king of pop', Johnny O'Keefe?

The original
