@Dutchy,
That was fun to watch Dutchy.
I was listening to my mp3 on my way home from work yesterday looking forward to watching the inauguration and this came on:

and I was thinking this should be America's and Obama's theme song right now

Badlands by bruce springsteen
Lights out tonight, trouble in the heartland.
Got a head-on collision, smashin in my guts man.
Im caught in a crossfire that I dont understand.
But theres one thing I know for sure girl:
I dont give a damn for the same old played out scenes
I dont give a damn for just the in-betweens.
Honey I want the heart, I want the soul, I want control right now.
You better listen to me baby:
Talk about a dream; try to make it real.
You wake up in the night with a fear so real.
You spend your life waiting for a moment that just dont come.
Well dont waste your time waiting

Badlands you gotta live it every day
Let the broken hearts stand
As the price youve gotta pay
Well keep pushin till its understood
And these badlands start treating us good

Workin in the field till you get your back burned
Workin `neath the wheels till you get your facts learned.
Baby I got my facts learned real good right now.
You better get it straight darling:
Poor men wanna be rich, rich men wanna be kings,
And a king aint satisfied till he rules everything.
I wanna go out tonight, I wanna find out what I got.
Now I believe in the love that you gave me.
I believe in the faith that could save me.
I believe in the hope and I pray that some day it
Will raise me above these

Badlands...

For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside
That it aint no sin to be glad youre alive.
I wanna find one face that aint looking through me
I wanna find one place, I wanna spit in the face of these

Badlands...

* Bruce is a force of nature on this song and just in general, he's such an inspiration to me - and the big man on that sax Very Happy
my throat was sore from singing so loud, but I was smiling so big
for the first time in a long time I have hope for my country.

@aidan,
Aidan again we're thinking along the same lines, I sat up from 1.30am this morning and watched every moment of Obama's inauguration. I was moved by his inspirational speech, which in my opinion was one of the best I've seen from a leader ever. I admire the man greatly having come from humble beginnings to the highest post in the land on his OWN merits. I think he will be a great President and restore the US to its righful position in this world. Today you can justly feel proud to be an American.

@hingehead,
Thanks Dutchy -let's keep our fingers crossed.

I listened to Edgar's Bobby Bare entry over on one of the music threads he posted on and it reminded me how much I like his voice- especially harmonizing:

Five Yards by TISM

Can't find it on youtube (not a dec3nt studio version anyway)

But it should probably be the national anthem:

You're only one fad away from being retro
You're only one drug away from liking techno
You're only one pair of glasses from dyslexia
You're only one Cleo mag from anorexia

You're only five yards from a fuckwit

You're only one download from this song's copyright
You're only one Tim Tam away from cellulite
You're only one phone call from captaining the Aussie side
You're only one lifestyle show from suicide
You're only one station from John Laws' ****
You're only one lobotomy from believing it.

You're only five yards from a fuckwit

You're only one tabloid press from a lynch mob
You're only one acting role from a real job
You're only one strip of flesh from your bones
You're only one species away from Alan Jones.

You're only five yards from a fuckwit

You're only one small speck in space
You're only one life, soon erased
Be there none left on Eath but you
One thing will still remain true:

You're only five yards from a fuckwit
