I like that "start wearing purple" song a lot, the others are too far out for me.The one ehbeth mentioned - Zaki Ibrahim - she's got a great voice,
"Joy" is my favorite song right now.

I am listening to Zaki Ibrahim this instant.

Ha, it's the other way around for me. Zaki Ibrahim is too soft for me. Actually, I can do soft... but zaki ain't my type.
i've been listening to the album since i got it 24 hours ago non-stop, except for the 6 hours of sleep it's been on non-stop on my computer, ipod, then computer again. addicted!

Four solid hours of pre-1950 Duke Ellington on WGBH-FM, Boston. Next Monday "Eric in the Evening" will play four solid hours of post-1950 Ellington. I can't wait. Don't have that many Ellington CDs myself -- about half a dozen-plus, plus some air-checks on cassette that I recorded myself off old radio programs.

He's one of my all time favorites-voice, phrasing, song choices, eccentricities....
I've never seen this before. Thanks for posting it.

He (JC- is it any coincidence) always makes me smile.

I'm listening to Lenny Kravitz- "Are You Gonna Go My Way?"
He's got one of the best drummers in the business- and she's a girl.

Excellent. I saw Pharoah at a little jazz club in Santa Cruz, where big names would come down on Mondays after playing weekends in San Francisco or Oakland.

The shows were usually pretty lackluster there, and Sanders was bored and lazy the whole time, but his (younger, hungrier) rhythm section tore it up.

Listening to the Veils -- http://www.theveils.com/ --right now. A friend in Oz told me about them a while back, now they've popped up on my puter. Digging it. Good stuff if you go for this sort of thing (a bit of pretention (or a lot), a bit of humor, a bit of earnest, a bit of glam).
