This chinese restaurant I go to has this awesome compilation cd they always play (at least it's awesome after a couple of glasses of wine) so one of the songs they play is Perfect Day by Lou Reed - and after that I'm always ready to hear the next song off of Transformer - which is Hangin' Round - but the next song on their cd is something by Duran Duran- so it's kind of a let down.

So tonight I came home and put on Transformer by Lou Reed for the first time in ages. It's such a great record - takes me back to highschool - every song is awesome but I think Perfect Day is an absolutely perfect song - his voice, the arrangements of the strings, the mood of the song - just combine to create a perfect song

Just a perfect day,
Drink sangria in the park,
And then later, when it gets dark,
We go home.
Just a perfect day,
Feed animals in the zoo
Then later, a movie, too,
And then home.

Oh it's such a perfect day,
I'm glad I spent it with you.
Oh such a perfect day,
You just keep me hanging on,
You just keep me hanging on.

Just a perfect day,
Problems all left alone,
Weekenders on our own.
It's such fun.
Just a perfect day,
You made me forget myself.
I thought I was someone else,
Someone good.

Oh it's such a perfect day,
I'm glad I spent it with you.
Oh such a perfect day,
You just keep me hanging on,
You just keep me hanging on.

you're going to reap just what you sow,
you're going to reap just what you sow,
you're going to reap just what you sow,
you're going to reap just what you sow...

Moe Koffman, Two Bourrees

and on to Koff Drops <which became the theme of As It Happens on the CBC>

I'm glad I had the chance to hear him perform live at Ontario Place back in the mid-1970's - he changed how I listened to jazz

Thanks Moe

Status Quo ,, "You're In The Army Now" on their Greatest Hits album. Good old fashion British rock & roll from the last 3 decades.

I love "Andy's chest" from that album, so whimsical and strange:

If I could be anything in this world that flew
I would be a bat and come swooping after you..."

but you never hear that on any compilation or radio station Crying or Very sad
