Now THAT'S for me. I was weaned on the tango...though it was more toward Carlos Gardel.
If you're interested...Robert Duvall hosted a fine documentary on the history of the tango...the scenes of him in Buenos Aires were priceless.

I agree with you about Buenos Aires. A very attractive and memorable place and people. Something seems missing in everything there and I can't really put my finger on it - perhaps it is the somewhat melancholy and almost tragic air that infects the place and its music too.

I have several Carlos Gardel recordings. I like his "Caminitos" best of all. (Also a recording of Historia de un Amor, which I believe is a Puerto Rican song.

Nothing from nothing by Billy Preston.

This guy was most famous for playing keyboards with The Beatles on the Let it be film, probably because alot of his solo stuff was of pretty poor quality [I had his Greatest hits once]. Still, there are a couple of numbers that he did, namely this one and "Will it go round in circles?" that were genuinely inspired! Very Happy

Anybody remember him from "Shindig"? A black guy with a beatle haircut. What a sight.

Listening to WCLK. Great jazz. Have no idea who this is at the moment, tho. I'll guess and say Sonny Rollins but it's only a guess.

Triple J- the best radio station I've ever come across. It's out of Sydney, Australia, and you can get it off the internet. Right now they're playing Sufjan Stevens' 'Chicago.' Fun station, good tunes.

Jim Brickman special - Disney music

I'm kind of Embarrassed about how much I'm enjoying it.

Setanta seemed more than a bit startled to discover me watching it.

At this precise moment Dirty Little Town by Kieran Kane on Dead Rekoning. (no, that is not a spelling error)

(Emmylou Harris is part of the backing vocals)

Charlie Parker: Best of the Verve Years. A little too much string backup for my taste, but the 2-CD set contains some classics, e.g. "Laura," a perennial favorite of mine.

Kieran Kane is a little known favorite of mine from Nashville ; I think I remember a song of his called You're The Best and anything Emmylou sings back up on has to be good.
