A great tune. I've been on a mission to collect every Evans piece he ever recorded. I'm almost there.

agree, it may not be Jazz for some purists, but it's great music, whatever it is. a couple of odd Evans recordings i have that you may be missing are his appearance on Marian MacPartland's piano jazz, and a low-fi recording of him practicing something from Bach's Art of the Fugue.
Marian's show is a must and I have it but the low fi...nope
I listen to his stuff with Scotty LaFaro the most. It is remarkable music. Scotty was a remarkable bass player.
LaFaro was an extraordinary talent, and it's a terrible to thing to say but thank goodness his life wasn't cut short before the Village Vanguard sessions. His music lived on, at least. Something that's not as well known is his appearance on some Ornette Coleman recordings; LaFaro was evidently versatile as well as talented.
Agreed, the two Village Vanguard recordings are always in my car. They may be the greatest live jazz recordings. Ironic that after Debby's Waltz there's just a smattering of luke warm applause and the tinkle of dishes being cleared away.
too many live recordings to pick one greatest for me, but sunday at the village vanguard's one of my faves. another celebrated live recording that has an ironic aspect is Duke Ellington at Newport, and Paul Gonsalves' solo on Diminuendo & Crescendo in Blue. afaik, the audience is going wild not over Gonsalves' solo, but in response to a pretty blonde & her companion dancing near the stage.
Urban Knights II
With Ramsey Lewis, Gerald Albright, Jonathan Butler, Najee, Sonny Emory

Never knew that about the Gonsalves solo at Newport. Interesting.
I am listening to the sound track to my feature Doc MiMEtoLITHs....anyone else interested ? It will leave you stone faced sober for sure !!!
this moment I am listening to Creep by radiohead. I'm going to ork up an acoustic version to play in my acoustic act. I am listening to their acoustic version and I think it lacks dynamics so I'm going to do something different with it.
Oh, I love to listen to that!
