Strains of Music...
Right now, I'm listeng to Georg Friederick Handel's "Sonate II" being played on the flute, by my younger son, in his room.

I grew up on Rock and Roll, but my son has found artistic challenge in playing classical...

Thanks
Actually, my son has opened up my appreciation, for Jazz, as well. He has played Bass Sax in a Jazz band, Oboe and Viola in the orchestra, Princepal flute in the Jr. Symphony, and has given private recitals playing his flute with a pianist.

Like I said, I grew up on Rock and Roll, but I find it very pleasant to have the strains of a flute, filling the house with music.

I've just noticed that Andy has just left the musical score for "to venus and back tori amos" on my computer desk, so I imagine I'll be listen to this, soon.

Hi ferrous...... How wonderful, to have such a talented musician in your house. How old is your son? I played flute in Junior High (early 60's), and I still play my flute occasionally. I like to play Irish Jigs on my flute! The oboe is very difficult. Hats off to your son!! I hope he stays with his music.

Hi BillW...... Is this a new Leonard Cohen? Is he writing new songs now?

I'm listening to Bob Dylan's "Time Out Of Mind" CD..... When this CD first came out (1997), I played it non-stop for weeks! Love Bob Dylan!

Very Happy

Hi BillW...... after I posted the above message, I clicked over to Amazon.com and read the reviews for "Ten New Songs" by Leonard Cohen. YES, I definately must hear these new lyrics!! Thanks for the heads-up!!

One of my co-workers brought in "October Road" by James Taylor, and I kinda half-listened while working. I liked what I heard. Maybe I can borrow his CD for the weekend.

I heard that Patty Larkin will be releasing a new CD soon. I'm looking forward to hearing her new CD.

Very Happy

Just purchased the new Santana "Shaman" CD, partially because the kids really like the "Game of Love" tune with Michelle Branch. The whole thing is good.

Hey There OAK,
...I recently saw Carole King on a TV concert. I loved her of course, but was a bit miffed when she decided to stand up and do, "Today the Earth Moved". For me the piano work on that song is the high point of "Tapestry". .....Lemme see, thanks to Ferrous, I'm about to slip in my Iztzhak Perlman, doing The Brahms Violinkonzert.

Hah! That's a funny image OAK. But it goes a little farther than. That piano is the esscence of that song. Think "Bennie And the Jets", without the piano!

Benny and the Jets
Haa, I miss read it, and thought "Think "Ruben And the Jets", without the piano!"

I couldn't remmember if Zappa played piano on it...

Of course, it would have been Ian Underwood, on piano.
