Wayne Newton singing Danke Schoen.
Apparently he's retiring from Las Vegas, and there's a quick radio feature on it.

I'd forgotten that he had a rather pleasant voice as a young man.

Ha! Danke Schoen!

I've got his greatest hits (Red Roses For A Blue Lady)

Anyway right now I'm listening to Stage - David Bowie. I never like his live albums.

I must say, I love the song "We're all alone now" - apparently its a love classic but to me, it just sounds so peaceful and quiet and sad...

anyone else have feedback?

Just got into Tomita the electronic music wizard. Debussy's Arabesque #1 is in heavy rotation.

Yeah, I know what you mean. A couple years ago, I adopted that song as "my song." It seemed to fit my life so well. I'd just kick back and slip my headphones on, crank it up, close my eyes and be in one of my "feel sorry for myself" moods.

Now when I listen to it, I just smile, cause I know how far I've come since then. Tonight for some reason, I just wanted to hear it again.

I think I will always like that song. Smile

Call you up in the middle of the night
Like a firefly without a light
You were there like a slow torch burning
I was a key that could use a little turning

So tired that I couldn't even sleep
So many secrets I couldn't keep
Promised myself I wouldn't weep
One more promise I couldn't keep

It seems no one can help me now
I'm in too deep
There's no way out
This time I have really led myself astray

Runaway train never going back
Wrong way on a one way track
Seems like I should be getting somewhere
Somehow I'm neither here no there

Can you help me remember how to smile
Make it somehow all seem worthwhile
How on earth did I get so jaded
Life's mystery seems so faded

I can go where no one else can go
I know what no one else knows
Here I am just drownin' in the rain
With a ticket for a runaway train

Everything seems cut and dry
Day and night, earth and sky
Somehow I just don't believe it

Runaway train never going back
Wrong way on a one way track
Seems like I should be getting somewhere
Somehow I'm neither here nor there

Bought a ticket for a runaway train
Like a madman laughin' at the rain
Little out of touch, little insane
Just easier than dealing with the pain

Runaway train never comin' back
Runaway train tearin' up the track
Runaway train burnin' in my veins
Runaway but it always seems the same

Great song brooke!

"Seems like I should be getting somewhere
Somehow I'm neither here nor there"

Isn't that what life is about? Isn't that the common plot all our lives follow? Could be read as sad, but actually metaphorizes the best thing we all have, life's cream of the crop: desire.

Disarm - Smashing Pumpkins (almost an answer song to Runaway Train...)

Disarm you with a smile
And cut you like you want me to
Cut that little child
Inside of me and such a part of you
Ooh, the years burn

I used to be a little boy
So old in my shoes
And what I choose is my choice
What's a boy supposed to do?
The killer in me is the killer in you
My love
I send this smile over to you

Disarm you with a smile
And leave you like they left me here
To wither in denial
The bitterness of one who's left alone
Ooh, the years burn
Ooh, the years burn, burn, burn

I used to be a little boy
So old in my shoes
And what I choose is my voice
What's a boy supposed to do?
The killer in me is the killer in you
My love
I send this smile over to you

The killer in me is the killer in you
Send this smile over to you
The killer in me is the killer in you
Send this smile over to you
The killer in me is the killer in you
Send this smile over to you
