"Jah is the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the conquering lion of Judah ..."

Last week I went to buy a present for my leaving Italian colleague (on behalf of the organisation, you know) - got her a Tiken Jah Fakoly CD, she loves reggea - but I was doubting for a while, listened to some alternatives - and then got myself totally hooked to an amazing double CD of Yabby You, Jesus Dread 1972-1977. Pretty much a complete set, which means often different versions of the same track/riddim (which meant not such a perfect gift for my colleague) - but hell, positively brilliant! You gotta listen to it with headphones (or have a really good stereo I guess) - once I played it at home in the room on my crappy system I was a bit disappointed, just some chilled-out reggea so dubby you almost get seasick; but on the headphones, man, the sheer genius of the beats and the tricks and all the little elements that make up this multi-layered la-azy mellow mind trip of dub and The Congoes-style reggea hit you like some magic mushrooms - unfolding, rippling, toasting, grooving .. coool stuff, man! King Tubby is on there, Trinity, Dillinger, Tappa Zukie, Big Youth ...

G-Unit
Young Buck - Stomp (feat. The Game and Ludacris)

Ludacris verse:

Muthafucka, I'm A Monster In This Game, Similar To The Lachness
My Rhymes Is Nappy Rooted, Sum Verces Gotta Process
The Truth In This Booth, Ain't No Doubt When I'm Rappin'
If I Say It, I've Eather Done It, Or It's 'Bout To Happen
When I Pull Up In The Louis Truck On 26's, People Dumb Out
If Life's A Crap Game, I'm Rollin' 7's On The Come Out
These Rapper's Think I'm Ig-nent, Love Sayin' My Name
Cuz Maintainin My Fish Tank, And They House, Cost The Same
Ask Me, I'd Say I Made It, And It Sure Wasn't Luck
Cuz Hustler's Relate To Me, And Some Are Younger Than Buck
You See I'm Married To My Music, But We Got A Prenupt
So If That Bitch Don't Act Right, I'm Still Gettin My Cut
My Deals Never Get Screwed, My Contracts Practice Abstinence
I'm Masterin This Program, Hazin' These Undergraduates
So, Pimpin' Be Easy, Quit Catchin' Feelings
Cuz You Worth A Couple Hundred Grand, And I'm Worth Millions
Nobodys Thinkin' About You, Plus Your Beats Ain't Legit
So Please Stay Off The T.I.P. Of My Dick

Mad rhymes aren't they

http://www.gasstation.ca/kelele_bover.htm

Quote:
The Kelele Brothers are a secret society of ukelele enthusiasts, and a side project of the Ron Sexsmith touring band. The Bover plays ukelele, and every kind of guitar there is. Mofuss LaFun plays bass, guitar and piano. Don Kelele plays a little ukelele, tenor guitar and cello. The mysterious El Rondo plays piano, guitar, newspapers and megaphone. Bongo Powell is a part-time Kelele Brother, and all of these fellows play the drums.

The Kelele Brothers, by day, are a mild-mannered group of world-travelling superstars who, at night, armed with ukeleles and beer, turn into a ridiculous bunch of yahoos.

The first Kelele Brothers recording is called "ESCAPE FROM BOVER COUNTY". It was recorded on a mini-disc with one microphone, live in hotel rooms and even in a traveling van, while on tour opening for Lucinda Williams.

Jack Johnson - Bubble Toes.

"When you move like a jellyfish
Rhythm don't mean nothing
You go with the flow
You don't stop
Move like a jellyfish
Rhythm is nothing
You go with the flow
You don't stop"

-- This song sure gives me a lift.

I'm too predictable

another forum I go to had a whole discussion of sitting in your car waiting for one of Stuart's stories to end, even if you're at your destination. I'd listened to this particular episode a coupla times - love the Kelele brothers. I'm gonna watch Hugh's Room for them to appear on the schedule. And well - Ron Sexsmith - gotta love his stuff.

Tafelmusik doing an evening of Metamorphosis followed by an afternoon featuring the Kelele Brothers - life is all right.
