@chai2,
Yes I do drag, its what I do for a living. I love what I do and I love entertaining. I’m a gay man, not transsexual or transgender. I work three nights a week and make a damn good living but it’s not all about the money, if I didn’t love what I do I wouldn’t do it.

Not all gay men do or like drag but they do enjoy watching sexy women perform. Perhaps their fascinated by the attention these women get by men.

Confused Confused Confused

Sexy women as in men dressed in drag, or actual women?

I wasn't aware that gay men enjoy watching strippers. I assume you mean strippers, and not just talented actresses/singers/entertainers that happen to be attractive.

People of all types enjoy watching others perform their art, regardless of their sex.

What about the important questions I was asking, or are you not comfortable discussing that?

That sounds oppressive.

So, if you're gay in St Pete, you can't express yourself unless it's been officially sanctioned?

I realize the answers have been very superficial, and have mostly been self promotion.

Too bad. This could have been a good opportunity for open dialogue.

Oh well.

@msolga,
I am a 41 yr old man that remembers first time I wore pantyhose at age 4. I still dress like a woman (at home) privately for most part, I have closet full of skirts mostly (love mini skirts). To answer some of your question. I have an alt woman name Synclair, my women friends say I have two persona's. A man I am so shy I been single '92. I am not bi nor gay, I have daughter and have had 'opportunity' in that if I were, however in saying that, it so flattering to be told you are so hot, I not gonna brag but I have been mistaken as a real woman in my younger days, had modeling agency interested in me to model jeans in NY and went as Xena on Halloween and bouncer hit on me until he saw my fake 'breasts'. I have long blonde hair (kept from my hair band days), and my body is natural hour glass figure and women legs, my women friends do say they jealous on my body, my secret, get Mononucleosis and lose 28lbs, lol. For me it is the feel of clothes, you women have a large selection as men dont, women have tight jeans, skirts, skorts, shorts, and fabric selection, my fav is skirts of mostly Rayon, spandex, I have over 100 skirts, I always have to have sexy clothes, no long skirts or boring blue jeans, and lingerie is so cool to, I wear alot of bustiers.
For the question of insult to woman, hell no. I think women should be in more important roles in business, they think differently than a man does, majority of women are not power mongers as men are in politics. I adore the female looks, although I must say just the hot body long hair ones, I really dont like women with short hair. For me the entire feel of tight clothes and attractive heels and stockings etc, and aa complete turn on. Just a shame that most men have too much testosterone and judge based on what a man 'should' do or look like. It is tough to find a 'normal' heterosexual Crossdresser in my opinion cause we are mostly closet dressers and pick friends closely and feel them out for months if not years before anything is said. So you may know a man that is a Crossdresser now but you may never find out. I have one question for you though if ok. Do women like a man in womens clothes that just looks like a man in womens clothes like with beard, hairy legs? (which I personally dont like) OR do you like a man that can pass a women (shave hair, long hair, hot body, etc. I always joked I am a bi-womans dream, I can look like both and hell I even do laundry and clean house without issues, I just like doing that stuff as a woman, I sometime stay dressed all day to do cleaning, it is so hot to walk in skirt and heels, but I must confess, as my women friends say, 'Synclair' is so vain, I have mirrors that I always make sure to see myself every opportunity I get.

@SynclairDraco,
Oh & in answer to your question:

I don't know any men who dress as women (or as you say, I'm not aware of any) but personally, I find the idea of a big hairy, bearded man dressed in women's clothes rather humorous. Not repulsive, understand.
I guess I don't have any strong feelings about the alternative.
But then, it sounds like dressing as a woman is more for the pleasure of the man doing it, than for a response from others?
Others here, who know more about cross dressing than I do, might want to respond to your question, I don't know.

@msolga,
Your answer was what I asked yes. I always felt that if I gonna be 'Synclair' I should try to look the part, now in saying that some Crossdressers it is just a sexual thing, I agree with that to. Woman who like Crossdressers have one huge advantage here by the way, a shopping mate that never complains how long you look at clothes and at home you never hear this "Why does it take you so long to get ready in the bathroom?" and forgot this, "Why do you need so many shoes?", we Crossdresser know all that, we actually, some of us, walk in your shoes! lol. anyone with questions, dont hesitate, I pretty open on my thoughts, I did work as MSN Lifestyle Roaming Host for 2 yrs before they closed them, worked in Crossdressing and Transgender, I will tell ya this from experience, 95% of them (us) are the nicest people you ever met, now the bashers is another thing, if i ever get chance to upload pic of me when I young lol I will post it, sometimes a face or body some feel they can ask questions more relaxing. Take care all

Mardi gras means fat Tuesday, also known as shrove Tuesday. It's a catholic thing, a cultural thing not a gay thing. In northern places, is a much more somber event. Usually it was when you used up all the fats and sugars in preparation for lent. In southern places, it was the last chance to party. I realize this is a pretty simplistic explanation... In cities like Rio or N. Orleans it's become a competition of excess. Different factions vie to win prizes based on their extravagance.

I've known several men who wear women's clothing. Most of them are heterosexual. All but one have alternative careers, not the conventional 9-5 job.
Two of them wore masculine or kilt like skirts on a daily basis. Neither of them knew each other, they lived in different cities. One was a musician, the other was a comedian. I asked them why and both told me the same thing.. It felt more natural. Their boys weren't constrained - unlike women who were flatter, no protrusions. And both gave me lessons on the history of men's dress and couldn't understand why men ever switched. One actually started making the skirts full time for a while, not sure how his business is now, but it was booming a few years ago.
Another friend, a musician, also straight, liked the feel of the clothing. He made one butt uuuuggly broad, but whatever. He invited me to a crossdresser's banquet one night. The room was filled with men dressed as women, wearing mostly demure make-up and a lot of really awful, two piece skirt suits and fugly shoes. Most of the men, and there was absolutely no confusion, were there with their wives and girlfriends and the vast majority were 40+. There were a few drag queens but for the most part it was a very tame affair.
Another straight friend who was the only one with a normal job, also straight, was badly abused by his father as a child. He was always kind of an odd duck, awkward. I lost contact with him and a few years later I found out he was going through the process of becoming a woman. Shocked - I caught him watching pornos on several occasions - don't ask... He was fired from a job because he showed up one day, rather suddenly, as a woman. The resulting lawsuit got him some press for his plight. I saw him a few years ago, and he was part way through the process. He wasn't pretty, but he was happy.
The last two were drag queens.
One is still a man (I think), but is only interested in "straight men", is always dressed in the finest clothes, perfect make-up, great shoes. She just pushes it up a notch when performing - think "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil".
One is loud and proud, brilliant, funny, completely comfortable in both personas, normal(for lack of a better word) and fabulous.. He has the best legs I've ever seen and is well over 6'8" in heels.
So to answer your question.. I have no idea, other than to say from my small selection of friends, they all seem to have a different paths and reasons.
As to drag queens being mean. Yup, most of them are catty and bitchy but it's part of the caricature. It's like the saying about the Irish.. they don't hate anyone in particular, they hate everyone equally. Drag queens are mean to everyone in general. Of course they can be sweet as pie too. They're entertainers, they can figure out the crowd like the best of them, or at least the really talented ones. Not everyone who puts on a skirt has the knack to be both. I find the acts hilarious. But then I'm a canuck, we regularly laugh at ourselves.
Sorry for being long winded..

Its not necessarily homosexual. I knew a guy who did it

@OmSigDAVID,
In HS a coupe of us put on a "drag cheerleader squad" SO we could parade about and do cheers at pep rallies and sometimes at games when the cheerleaders were "on break" between quarters and at halftime for fooball.

The squad was carefully chosen by this one guy who was our "guru" He wanted specific types so we had a couple of really big jock types, some beefier guy, some "normals" and a coupa geeky tyypes , skinny and bespectacled. (ME for one). SO wed get all dressed and made up by the real cheereaders (who sort of adopted us and we benefited mightily from our abilities to capture our feminine sides).
I got over the initial embarrassment and just went with it and had great fun. I was the one who always hadda keep pushing up her falsies cause they would be slipping down around my stomach (That was sort my trademark cause the first time I just whipped my bra around backwards and kept going, and everyone laughed. I realized then that they were not laughing AT me really). SO, there was a 3 year HS career of drag cheerleading in which we had our own little pleated blue skirts and one big guy would be(in todays language) be called a "Muffin-top" His letter shirt was waay to small so his midriff came out early in the routines. So heres me with water balloon boobs gradually overcome by gravity, he with a kind of dogpatch doofus look , other "drag cheerleaders " who could not seemingly follow simple directions and our team captain who was coiffed in a perfect wig that he would pull off into our routine as he feigned being really pissed at how inept we were (Part of the act). He would rip off his wig and make like he was stomping on it and then hed run over to "Jethro" and beat him with the wig

I know that several other High SChools in PA and Md adopted our drag queen show and we even had a sort of "Cheeroff" among several drag lines from several schools in Eastern PA and Cecil County Md.
Thats about one of the few good memories that I have from my school days, since most of my time was spent in deep despair and isolation because we moved alot in my early years and Catholic schools were kinda snotty.

OR NOT. I think the creative mind is capable of expressing itself in a myriad of ways that the walkaday majority cant fathom. SO these folks try to justify their inabilities to comprehend by claiming that its an "Abnormality".
Lets just enjoy the ride and , if we are lucky enough to have all kinds of friends with these little talents of expression, CELEBRATE EM, take em fishing and go to a bar with em so they dont feel left out. Youll be rewarded in their companionship.

What the hell, Dave is too busy lining up targets to celebrate diversity.Sorry Dave but I see you in yellow taffeta with your submachine strap made from a Randall Darwall sling and a matching neck thingy. Youd look mahvelous

U wanna claim that dressing that way IS within the norm?????

Maybe, but preferably not dressed that way UNLESS,
it really means a lot to the guy
& u wanna give him a break. That 's different.
I read of a case wherein some poor fellow served honorably
in the US Armed Forces, had a good reputation on-the-job,
but he was inexorably impelled to dress like a ballarina.
(Presumably, OCD)
I 'd give him a break; that doesn't hurt anything.
Its only a slightly, mildly sour note, but its tolerable.

I have a tea shirt with many pictures
of a lot of pistols & revolvers, maybe some SMGs, over a caption that says:
"CELEBRATE DIVERSITY"

Somehow, u remind me of a lot of pictures that I have, taken by my friend, Donald,
of his bride & me at a gunnery range in Las Vegas, holding a lot
of SMGs, and revolvers during their Honeymoon in Las Vegas, which
I gave them as a wedding present. (The bride was a medical doctor from Red China,
who had never been to Las Vegas b4.)
