@Brian764,
How can we trust a book that has been translated and re-translated again, made to fit which ever ruling body of the times' ideas on how society should live.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Have you forgotten that women being allowed to vote is still less than 100 years old. Where do you think the views on women were afforded from? The only book everybody had and everybody read.

Do you really WANT to trust a book that has such a calous attitude towards women, forget whether you believe it to be true, do you want to be associated with it?

@Brian764,
I really like what Dr. David Hawkins says about the Bible, that it was put together by humans, who got to decide on what parts got in...so as human beings can we discern truth from non-truth? Nope.
So parts of the Bible he has calibrated, it is in Power vs. Force, that some parts are valid and others are not. Basically Jesus rules!

And for what purpose? If I were to prove to you that these scriptures do not conflict with each other as you might believe, would you have a change of mind and desire to repent of your sinful ways and take up your burden and follow Jesus? Or are you just trying to trip me?

How about his contradictions? I think he did a nice job of it....

No, this is not a truth, these stories..and they come from many other religions which existed before Paul started making the guy Jesus into a diety.

Sorry..just too much out there on the assembly of the Bible...you guys who don't research it are the losers..

Men who rule the religions want exactly that...so they can, even in these modern times, take a child bride and bed her...

It's about justifying behavior..as you have said...

Thou shalt not kill is not thou shalt not murder so that we may support wars...LOL!!!

It is Dr. David Hawkins, and Jesus is one of the world's avatars, as is Kristna, Buddah. Just go to the Nightengale-Conant website and you can listen to some of his work, l found it really good.

I guess we shall have to wait for that moment intime to see once we each die.
But doctors have reported spirituality has done much for those healing. When I broke my neck I was up and walking with a wheel chair first and on my own in about 4 days after leaving the recovery room. And discharged in 10 days with a halo device.
But it was before the surgery that the strange and beautiful happened. I was dating a nurse so she was there (2 AM) talking with the other nurses and this light was blinking. (I was on a gurney and in pain, no meds yet) so I asked them to shut off the light. It was an older man in his room, who should be asleep because of his meds. The head nurse sent another nurse to his room. She wheeled him out as he refused to go back to sleep. He said he had a message. She wheeeled him up to me and he tossed the bible on my chest (it didn't hurt) and told me that God, have giiven me a thousand feet of rope and I broke the knot at the end. The he slumped back to sleep. Guess what I did from that day on. yes tried to get my life back in line with Jesus, WAY. life has more meaning now for me. Even though I spend it bunkered in a lot. It is called Blind faith and it works for me. I guess we all do what works for themselves. But i know in my heart there is a God, who's son Jesus, will protect me in the end. Now that is just IMHO. no conterdictions or debate will change that. And I see much on TV to show that Jesus was a man. I see theorys on the earths formation I see a world slipping into need of spirituality. yet not seeking it. Free will of choice.

I see spirituality destroying this world through its inability to accept other peoples ideas

don't you mean religious dogma? Spirituality is within each of us, and gives us the life force to the vessel which is our body. I am spiritual and so is everyone at the core of their being.
I think it is the human ego that is at work when we have an inability to accept other people's ideas, and this can be both good and bad. Our intellect is made to analysis and judge, a survival skill.

Hmmm, good point, that is an interesting way to look at it. You're probabaly right about it being religous dogma.

Thanks for giving me another take on it.

@Brian764,
Brain@764 I find it hard to believe that you have read the Bible. It is full of contraditions from Gen to Revulation, but there is one that really stands out. In Gen32:30 Jaccob states, "I have seen God face to face". Then in John 1:18 it states that no man has seem God at anytime.
Ancient people believed that the Earth was flat, rested on pillows and that the sky was circled as it appears to be that way. There are about 20 passages relating to the foundation of the Earth, the pillows of the Earth and the corners of the Earth. Your guys are getting pretty desperate aren't you? Believe as you like, that's fine with me….. I’m not in the business of trying to prove to anyone that it does not. I have proven for myself over and over that it does not, that’s all that matters to me.
