Couple of days ago when starting up my computer, the systray on my desktop mysteriously moved from the bottom to the top. Although it works properly, it's inconvenient after using the former layout for so long. Seems I recall seeing the problem discussed on this forum but don't remember the remedy. Can someone provide a solution? TIA. Windows98SE.
Are youse talkin bout the whole Windows taskbar, rather than the little area with the icons & clock (the systray)? If so, you should be able to just grab an empty part of the taskbar & drag it back down to the bottom of the desktop.
(Don't you love all these quirky little names?

)
Hopefully someone who knows about such things will give you workable instructions. I, who know zilch about such things, had the same thing happen to me, and the bar refused to be dragged. I learned to live with it. Just this past week, the problem got solved. My computer froze as it periodically does. I could not even turn it off with the off button on the computer so I pulled the plug. After I put the plug back in, I got the starting boot up instructions, and when all was done, lo and behold, the task bar was back on the bottom. Everything else was as I had left it. If you have to resort to this, good luck.
Restarting Windows will resolve many quirky little things (pulling the plug is not the secret).
Windows XP includes a function to lock the taskbar, which some people do accidentally, & in Windows XP Home Edition it's locked by default.
If dragging the taskbar (after first attempting a restart) doesn't work for you Mustang, I can give you some instructions for fixing it though the registry.
Have you tried restarting Windows yet? That will likely fix your latest problem.
You're too quick for me, Monger. Yes, I restarted and hope it's resolved, at least for a little while until the next time!
