I would say that it's hardly relevant. In my experience, if used at all, "Epicurean" is used to describe someone who puts sensual pleasure as the greatest good -- they enjoy good food, wine, sex, art, and so on. While those things were important to Epicurus, from my reading it seems that Epicurus valued intellectual pursuits as the most pleasurable pursuits. So... it doesn't seem that his philosophy is followed or known, at least in the sense that people do these things and often describe themselves as Epicureans. As a basis of comparison I'd say that more people prefer and admire the Stoics over the Epicureans
