Is the conquest of the fear the necessary?

i think they put a bad title on that article-they didnt in any way discover how to cure or end fear. they may have found a key to an area of the brain where it is affecting, but they have a long way to go. we need help now!

actually i experimented with taking a medication and then climbing on a ladder to see if i was still afraid, and i wasnt. so each time i went one step higher and now i can actually climb onto the top of this 6 foot rickety aluminum stepladder and sit on it and clean my ceiling fan. the odd thing is that it is a really expensive antibiotic for tb...the marvels of science are yet not even known to all the scientists.

did you know that taking a 10 mg inderal (propanolol) before you have to speak in public will help your stagefright? i also used that for walking in traffic (which is pretty scary where i live) and had good results. it should be used only as needed, and not regularly; otherwise in order to stop taking it you have to taper off carefully. but it even makes me feel better to know i have it with me, in case something scary happens.

of course those are just the anxieties, panic attacks and so forth.

if you are talking about the inherent fear in the human psyche that causes people to murder each other and commit all sorts of abominations, that is more difficult. it is based on ignorance first of all, i think...and that is not as easy to cure as one would think.

You bring up a great point to my mind, that the reason for any drug addiction is to not cure boredom as some might suggest, but cure fear.
That to be without fear is a very dangerous addiction.

So in a cure feared world we would all be addicts.
That to be with or have to stand the fear makes a person break any number of laws just so for that short space of time not be in terror of the world.

I tried an opiate once and never again because it was so boring.

Could this mean that our fear is our source of not just entertainment but interest and need to learn and express in any given subject or field?
Do we learn to write or to paint or to think because we are afraid of not learning or growing?
Are we afraid of being disinterested, uninteresting and apathetic?
Although the world seems to reward the apathetic these days.
And spreads the view to be so is to not be with fear,
when the apathy may actually in fact be the fear?
