He'd been wandering the planes of the multi-verse for the last several hours looking for a place to call home. He left a barren world and re-entered another. He stopped to take in his surroundings. He was in a sky filled with waterfalls; spewing forth from the clouds in the sky, gushing from nearby planets to plummet to the ground far below. He looked down, beyond his feet as he hovered there. The air was turbid and churned continuously from the ever flowing water from above. A fine mist hung above it all and he could just make out the faint outline of what seemed to be a bridge. He dropped from the sky like a stone and came to rest inches above what was indeed an old bridge.
The water from the surrounding pools flowed serenely over the floor of the bridge covering it in a few inches of water. It was cool on his feet as he landed on the walkway. The world was beautiful, no doubt about that, but it was not the place for him. Something in the distance caught his eye and he turned toward it. After traveling some distance he came to a broken window. *What happened here?* he wondered. The window opened onto another plane. He walked a little closer and could see that as the water from the bridge cascaded over the windowsill and flowed into the new world it became a verdant path of green. It flowed over a checkered floor and came to an end at the entrance to a dark, dense forest.
*Perhaps this place could be my home?* He smiled slightly before jumping up to grab the window ledge. He hung there in the space between worlds feeling the thin tendrils of the multi-verse reach out and grab at his flesh, threatening to rip it from his bones. He delighted in the pain a few seconds more before swinging himself into the dark plane before him and heading for the forest.
