Letty, can you add some "swingin´" titles in here?
Have just gotten the hang of posting images and I want these album covers on display.
Chess: the musical
by Benny Andersson, Tim Rice, and Bjorn Ulvaeus
Broadway production
I was introduced to it early long before it arrived in America although one of the songs One night in Bangkok became quite popular before it arrived. It had a limited following here in America but received great acclaim in Europe.
bob.........
"Chess:the musical"?
Swinging?
I was thinking more along the lines of this:
A fantastic score. One number used in the film "Jackie Brown".
Hoping the naked lady isn´t going to get me banned for life.
It's swinging to me but I probably have a different interpretation of swinging than your's. Along your lines I still have a vinal recording of Peter Gunn the first jazz score for a television series. There's also a different meaning to swinging but I'll have to refer you to others for their opinions as I am not an expert.
Whoa,Peter Gunn is swinging.
Don´t get too annoyed with me bob but I´ve NEVER heard the Chess score.Talk about prejudiced...ouch.
Perhaps I should re-name the thread "hebbas idea of cool scores"?
I feel all little.
Fear not Hebba. I am not annoyed. There are serious things that can annoy but something as frivolous as this is not going to do it.
Here!Found this one..This is cool.Quincy Jones penned it!

and this by darling Dudley Moore.
I love this! Where are you finding the album covers? Amazon? I searched all over... anyway, here's one of my favorite sound-tracks:
Google. It´s quite fun don´t you think? The thread could just become "Cool album covers"...I know ALL of them so far and the music is superb.
Did you see that I added the Commitments to my earlier post?
Here's a movie that was just on the TV -- Simon & Garfunkle won a Grammy for these songs (sans Mrs. Robinson) before they were used in the movie.
Here's one that's been missed:
I've always liked this one.
A friend of mine has The Graduate soundtrack on vinyl.
A lot of swinging numbers besides the S&G stuff too.
Shaft!! trés cool eoe.
Was discussing this with my son & he suggested this one -- because all the tracks (he said) were original. I remember I liked the film
Have not heard of it Piffka.
Started another thread....for cool covers as opposed to scores.

Loved the movie too.Was re-issued here in a shiny new print a few years ago.
I don't know if this is "swinging" but I think the music in Apocalyse Now was perfect for the film.
Uh-oh... I might get knocked again if I start posting cool covers.
Wish I could agree with you, piffka, but I found the score to be virtually superflous. A lot of tonal groaning and bleeting. If you're talking about "The Ride of the Valkyries," that was as you know borrowed from Wagner. Otherwise, the original music by Carmine Coppola (his brother), Francis Ford Coppola (as Francis Coppola) and Mickey Hart
strained for atmosphere but sounds more like Vangelis mixed by John Carpenter.
