The architecture looks Moorish - almost.

Per nimh's suggestion, here's a special bridge. Where and what is the special significance?

The red and white stripes are very much like the interior of the mosque in Cordoba, Spain, but its exterior is much plainer:

As for c.i.'s bridge ... hhmmmm. It all looks way too big to be in Europe, but the buildings (on this side of the bridge) look European. That doesnt say much, tho ... could still be any former colony or, say, latin america ...

c.i., is yours in China? The closest I found (googling) that looked anything like that is the Jiangyin Suspension Bridge, "the largest suspension bridge across the Yangtze River" - but the river in your picture seems too narrow to be the Yangtze, and the bridge looks higher and blacker ...
