You've just upset our legion of NZ members (and some of the Aussies!) by implying that New Zealand is part of Australia.

Goodness this game skips along....

but don't have a clue about the current pic Smile

Not correct, Swift - Australia is a continent, full stop. And a country.

New Zealand is a group of islands in the Pacific Ocean.

It's not at all attached to the continent of Australia.

They're off floating over there by themselves.

I'm not sure where your tree is, but it's certainly not down this way!

margo, in Europe (except France) and the US, we're
taught that New Zealand is part of the continent Australia.
You Australians beg to differ, but it is still taught that way..... Wink

I was thinking of Madagascar which is considered part of (the continent) Africa. It's a pretty good size island also.

We don't beg to differ - it's just incorrect.

If you wish to consider Oceania as a continent (which it isn't) - well OK - sorta.

But New Zealand is not part of Australia. We were all part of the greater Gondawanaland, eons back.

Ignorance in the northern hemisphere of the southern hemisphere fascinates me.
