your guidebook is surprising, I found it whitewashed with geraniums in pots and no frightening atmosphere compared with some castles. Oh well, I suppose guidebooks are meant to get you there

Across the road, beyond a tiny park and river, the Castelul Bran cabana offers double rooms for about 70 lei and a long and varied menu. However the kitchen only produces sausages in the mornings, and chicken - pui a full half-carcase - thereafter; so if you want a fancier meal or room, go to the costlier hotel on the Brasov side of town. But they do serve large cheap brandies.
